This report given by Pastor Ubukata: Japanese population is around 3000 here in the Metro Area, and many people from Okinawa. They have their own society, called “Okinawa Kenjin Kai”; many are students and many medical doctors at Washington University.
There is a Japanese school, which is partially funded by Japanese Governmant and right now over 90 childern are registered there. Almost all of them are Japanese children. They teach only Math and Japanese writing and reading. Most of its students will go back to Japan within several years.
